We welcomed Grianne from the Tree Council into our school to teach our eco-club and Faith in Action group from year 7 about our green areas in school.

We had a fabulous day learning about our open space in our school grounds. We learnt that we have a very large Scot Pine in the centre of our yard. We also learnt how we can look for signs that trees need our help – and we told our caretakers how they can water our plants!

Our favourite experience was using the microscope to look at our trees and we found a family of ladybirds growing in the bark of one of our trees. We can’t wait to keep an eye on them and watch them grow.

What we did learn is how vital the trees are within our school ground for our own wellbeing but also for habitats in the school grounds.
