Sometimes due to health and safety on school sites it is necessary to take a tree down, however we thought one step further and having to remove the tree we asked for the stump to be kept so we could design a carving which would show which animals and creatures rely on tress for survival.
Our end result is shown and much admired by all as well as teaching about trees. We named it the ‘Tree of Life’
Which animals can you spot who rely on tress to support them!

Wonderful idea and fantastic carving!
Thank you Sarah for the positive comment it was hard to lose the trees but necessary. The children loved the ‘Chainsaw Man’ as they called him doing it and it looks super – we have a second which is a fairy house with doors and steps – this is as much admired and saved losing them all together.
I love this idea! The tree can now live on! Congratulations!
Beautifully carved and, as you said, lovely that the tree is remembered and still fulfilling a role.
Thanks for the responses really motivating at this strange time. Hope everyone keeping safe.
