Planting week at Newfield saw pupils, staff, governors and parent volunteers coming together to help plant hedgerow whip along the school boundary line. The ground was prepared and made suitable for all our pupils. Over the course of two day over 90 pupils have been able to plant a hedgerow whip either independently or with support , for many of our pupils this is a new experience.

The event was a great success. providing an opportunity for parents to come into school and work with their child was priceless. The smiles and memories will stay with them for a very long time.

It has also helped some of our older pupils to gain important life skills and assist them with their volunteer section of the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. Where they are now responsible for the care and maintenance of the trees.
