Y7 students involved with the Tree Project have had another fantastic day being a force for nature. Another branch to the project involved working with guest speaker, Gareth Jenkins, from the Speakers Trust. The purpose of the day was for students to speak up for trees by composing their own speech on the importance of trees.
It was an exciting day full of activities engineered to help students grow in confidence and improve their oracy skills. There was a range of exercises that helped pupils create their own inspiring speech; how to present yourself, the structure of a successful speech and how to constructively critique a speech, only some of the activities!
Judging the speeches was tough as each one was an inspiration. July will see one of our students, and their speech, represent our school at the virtual tree festival, ran by the Tree Council- how tree-mendous!
