Prendergast Vale is working hard on their eco school status. To that end, Year 4 and Year 5 took part in an Anti-Idling workshop with Mia from Idling Action London. The children discussed the composition of the air they breathe, and natural and unnatural sources of pollution. Mia told them lots of interesting facts about how idling in cars can have a negative effect on air quality outside schools due to the toxic gases pumping out from vehicle exhausts. The children then designed posters to raise awareness of the dangers of idling. Their posters will form a banner which will be displayed outside Prendergast Vale school and hopefully reduce idling.
Following the workshop, some of the children approached those idling outside the school to gently educate them on the benefits of switching off their engines whilst stationary. #ForceForNature
