We are starting to realise how important peat bogs are for biodiversity and the climate. We’ve tried to be #peatfree for a while but ‘Peat Free April’ seemed a good time to upscale our composting.
Reusing pallets from school deliveries, our garden volunteers will be making 3 bins. In the meantime, many of our birds are enjoying the new perching spot!

Brilliant that you are peat free. Congratulations!
Thank you – it’s taken us a while. We still buy in some peat free compost for seed sowing, as our ‘home made’ compost is a bit ‘weedy’ for seedlings!
This is a greta idea! I am going to use pallets to make.a bug hotel!
You’ll have great fun making your bug hotel! When we revamped ours, different groups took a layer each.
Great idea!
