Our Y2s, 3s & 4s have been repairing, renewing and creating new hedges to protect our outdoor learning circle from the wind. They have been using willow cuttings to push into the ground to create boundary markers, then using plant cuttings from the gardener’s waste to fill between the markers. We home to create some protection from the wind for us and plenty of new habitats for insects 🙂
We talked about the parts of a plant and how we would usually expect the roots to be present before planting a large ‘stem’. Luckily we had some willow cuttings in a bucket of water to show how roots will grow from each cut piece.
