To raise awareness and interest in Tree Valley at the Vale, we have launched a competition for the children of Prendergast Vale primary to design their class plot and the surroundings so the whole area develops as our new trees develop. Lots of enthusiastic discussions have been had as to how some fruits grow on bushes and some grow on trees; why a tomato is classed as a fruit; why we can’t grow mangoes and pineapples; which flowers give off a nice scent; and what foods we can prepare with what we grow. The children have also been very thoughtful as to how they could support wildlife by building hedgehog houses and a water supply for any thirsty creatures.
