Today the children had the opportunity to check on the vegetable patch to see how their produce was getting on. We were overjoyed to see that some of the radishes were ready to harvest. We talked about how to harvest the vegetables that were ready and the children carefully selected the radishes to pick. We were so impressed to see how they had grown. We looked at them carefully and talked about how they all looked different shapes and sizes and compared them to those we have seen in the supermarket.
We took them back to class, washed and prepared them and tasted the radishes. Some of the children had never tasted radishes before and were very pleased with their taste.
The children were so proud of their achievements in the vegetable patch that we started to talk about what else we planted and researched when they might be ready to pick.
