On Saturday 12/03/22 a group of children, parents, carers and staff got together to plant 12 semi mature trees at our school. It was a lovely community activity, with all the ages involved in the planting, staking and watering of the trees: 6 Hornbeam, 3 Liriodendron and 3 Acer rubrum, a selection specifically chosen to increase the biodiversity of our school grounds.
Now we have trees where we only had short cut grass and a bare fence!
We are already looking forward to the 12 disease resistant Elms and silver birches that we are going to plant this time next year. Each class has a Young Tree Champion who will help us all monitor and nurture our brand new trees.
